Cancer risk, progression and metastasis markers in oral cancer patients.

The overarching objective of this line of research is to explore alterations involved in the development and progression of oral cancer, so as to establish their clinical significance, biological role and potential clinical application as diagnostic/prognostic markers or new therapeutic targets, with the following specific objectives:

1. To identify risk markers in patients with preneoplastic oral lesions and apply them to clinical practice.
2. To identify and characterise molecular alterations and signalling pathways involved in tumour progression and the development of recurrent or metastatic disease.
